The Corporate Governance Code outlines recommendations and proposals for managing and monitoring publicly traded German companies, in an effort to promote confidence internationally in German financial markets. The Code is oriented around nationally and internationally recognised standards for effective and responsible corporate governance, based to a large extent on applicable laws. The Code is anchored in law by virtue of the declaration of conformity per Section 161, Stock Corporation Act (AktG).
